Loomo is your mobile robot sidekick and mini personal transporter. Ride it where you want, or have it follow you around indoors and outdoors. Wherever you go with Loomo, adventure is sure to follow.
How is Loomo different from other personal robots on the market?
While other robots have limited range and are limited to the household, we designed Loomo to be the world’s first truly mobile personal robot that can accompany you everywhere you go. By leveraging Segway mobility and powerful AI technology (powered by Intel RealSense), Loomo gets you where you need to go smoothly and then follows you as a robot sidekick. Loomo can also see, hear, experience, engage, and access OTA updates for ever-improving performance. The possibilities with Loomo are endless.
How long has Loomo been in the works?
We’ve spent two years doing research, development, and beta testing.
Why are you launching an Indiegogo campaign?
After two years of research and development efforts, we are launching this product to the global market, primarily targeting early-adopters and innovators who are enthusiastic about cutting-edge technology and would like to experience the newest innovations. With 15 million monthly active users, Indiegogo is clearly the best platform where we can find you, the innovators, to test out our personal robot and grow together with us.
How do I ride Loomo?
Loomo is safe and easy to ride – it will even teach you how, step-by-step! Every Loomo also comes with detailed riding instructions in the information guide.
Is riding Loomo legal in my city and can I ride it in the street?
Laws vary state-to-state. Before riding Loomo, please check your local and state laws for restrictions on riding self-balancing transporters in public areas.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Your safety is our top priority. We strongly encourage you to wear a helmet, even if your state laws do not require it. Please be safe while you ride. Segway Robotics is not responsible for injuries.
Can Loomo carry my bags?
Yes. Loomo was not specifically designed for this purpose, but it came up as a very popular feature during our testing period. Our recommendation is that you place bags only on the footstep area of Loomo. Avoid blocking sensors in the center of its body, which could cause Loomo to lose track of you when following.
How should I lock up my Loomo?
You may loop a standard bike lock around the back handle and attach it to a pole or other permanent structure.
What is Loomo’s weight capacity?
Up to 220 lbs (100 kg).
What is Loomo’s maximum speed?
8 km/h (4.3 mph) in robot mode, 18 km/h (11 mph) in self-balancing vehicle mode.
How do I connect to my Loomo?
There are two ways: shared WiFi connection (have your mobile phone and Loomo join the same available WiFi network) or direct connection (search for & select Loomo in your mobile phone’s WiFi settings).
Is Loomo Bluetooth-compatible?
Yes! Loomo uses Bluetooth 4.1 to connect with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, including speakers and cell phones.
What is Loomo’s battery life?
Loomo lasts up to 8 hours in robot mode, and 2 hours in self-balancing mode (roughly 35 miles of riding).
How long does it take to fully charge Loomo?
2-3 hours on average.
ADVANCED TECH SPECS & DEVELOPER INFO
I’m a developer with an idea for an integration / attachment.
Glad to hear it! Loomo runs on an Android operating system. You can connect to Loomo by plugging its head into your computer via USB 3.0 Type-C cable. From there, you’ll be able to use Android Studio to develop applications for it, just like you would develop an Android smartphone app. We know how important it is for Loomo to integrate seamlessly with your big ideas – to learn more about how you can bring them to life, get started here: http://developer.segwayrobotics.com/.
How does the hardware extension bay work?
The extension bay contains a standard USB 2.0 host, and a 24 volt power supply with 1A limit. If you are interested in utilizing this option, please email email@example.com along with a description of what you’d like to use it for. Additional information can also be found on the developer SDK website: http://developer.segwayrobotics.com/.
How exactly does Loomo’s “follow-me” feature work?
Loomo is equipped with a built-in, powerful Intel RealSense camera, which can detect objects in three dimensions. Developers can use the Detection and Tracking system (DTS) in the Vision SDK to visually detect and track an individual’s movement, then use the MiniController in the Locomotion SDK to direct it to follow the individual.
